Australian Fire Tanks Inspections - what We Look for?

We inspect all types of liquid storage tanks, including potable water tanks, chemical tanks, fuel tanks, and bulk dry goods tanks, for common problems that can develop as tanks age.

State law requires all commercial storage tanks to be inspected annually by a qualified inspector.

Whether you have a new Australian Fire Tanks unit that needs its first inspection or a 20-year-old outdoor concrete tank that you’re worried about, we can provide you with a high-quality inspection and report.

Our standard inspection services include a comprehensive assessment that covers the following:

  • Invisible cracks that can cause major problems in concrete tanks

  • Clogged drains and other drainage problems can cause water to back up, leading to leaks, flooding, and even structural damage

Inspections We Conduct

Australian Fire Tanks offers two types of industrial tank inspection packages, tailored to the needs of tank owners, operators, and managers:

ROV Tank Inspections

A remotely operated vehicle (ROV) inspection is a robotic assessment of the interior of your tank, without the need for personnel to enter the tank.

ROVs are like drones that can be remotely controlled to inspect tank systems safely and with virtually no risk. ROV tank inspections are typically performed in potable water and fire water tanks.

ROV tank inspections are the most innovative and popular tank inspection and service solution in our industry, due to their:

  • Productivity and comfort
  • Methods that are less likely to cause harm
  • Processes that are less expensive
  • High-performance data-capture capabilities
  • Ability to use tanks continuously without draining and refilling
  • The ability to generate reports from recorded data with a high degree of efficiency

Manned/Dive Team Inspections

Dive teams are the traditional and most practical tank inspection method, but Australian Fire Tanks uses them as a secondary service, mainly when ROV inspections are not possible. This involves sending personnel into tanks to manually inspect the unit and its components individually.

While Australian Fire Tanks guarantees highly accurate results for both manned and ROV inspections, we recommend our remote solutions to reduce human-related risks wherever possible.

What’s Subject to an Inspection?

Australian Fire Tanks recommends consulting local authorities for advice on region-specific regulations and standards, but in general, most of the following will require regular inspection and maintenance services:

  • Storage tanks that can be assembled on-site in a variety of sizes and capacities.
  • Commercial storage tanks that can be installed indoors or outdoors.
  • Pillow and bladder tanks that are lightweight and durable.
  • Secondary or emergency containment systems.

Holding a License and Accreditation

Australian Fire Tanks is dedicated to providing certified assurance that your tank assets are safe and meet all applicable local regulations. Our fully licensed and trained team can operate ROV inspection drones and enter tanks as needed.

We will provide a comprehensive report detailing our actions, findings, results, and recommendations for your inspections, along with suggestions for follow-up maintenance.

Inspection of Tank Hardware

In some regions, flanges and fittings may need to be inspected as part of regular functionality tests and general inspections. Australian Fire Tanks uses advanced cameras to inspect piping networks and components for corrosion, blockages, and other damage.

We will use an industry-designed inspection checklist to ensure that we thoroughly examine every square inch of surface and pipe structure.
